REMEBRANCE DAY (CANADIAN WAR HERO)
What is a biography?
NOTE: Step 1 to 3 is due Wednesday November 13th. Step 4 is due Monday November 18th.

Step 1:
Record the name of 2 Canadian Heroes that you would like to study and learn more about.  
Consider the following timeline when looking up different Canadian Heros (both men and women)
*  1850-1900
*  1900-1950
*  1950-2000
*  2000-2013

Step 2:
Generate jot notes on your Canadian War Hero which you will use to write a biography on your selected military hero.

Use the link above to help guide your writing.

Step 3:*  Guiding research ideas
      1.  Birth, Death
      2.  Major life events
      3.  Major/significant event that took place in their military life

Step 4:   
      Once you have finalized your research consider the following and answer
      1.  Why do you think he/she is a war hero?
      2.  Describe the contribution(s) he/she made to Canada.

Both in-class and at-home time is needed effectively to complete your biography. 
Action Plan: Dress for success tomorrow.  Bring your usb key.

Shadow Performance: bump up your reflections and consider each of the three areas, using specific examples to support your ideas DUE Thursday November 7th

MATH: Measurement, Looking at Perimeter, MMS p. 344; consider the algebraic equations to solve perimeter (linear) of a shape

Dance Groups:  Remembrance Day background music (30 secs per group)
- refer to the Elements of Dance template and consider which elements have been included in your groups' routine.

Action Plan: Bump up your storyboard based on class feedback from today.  Bring in the completed task for tomorrow.  Bring in your action plan saved to your usb key, and backed up on your google doc.

POETRY:
  • TASK1: Let's create a thread bringing together your "My Best Friend is a Metaphor" poem. PART 2: Once everyone has shared their poem, students will be randomly assigned to provide descriptive feedback on two students' poems and two choice poems. I can't wait to hear the poetry written by the students of Room 308  DUE Wednesday November 6th
  • TASK 2: - consider the class feedback received today and type your second draft of the Beauty of Pollination Poem DUE Thursday November 7th.
  • TASK 3: - find a poem online/book and scan/upload or type up the poem into a new post in your Poetry Kidblog; analyze and identify any poetic devices that the poet used and how it helped to convey a message to the audience PAST DUE

POETRY: preview the Remembrance Day video to inspire you in writing a poem with an assigned partner, as a tribute to our fallen soldiers, veterans and men & women who fought/fight for our freedom today.  Time will be provided on Monday to begin your first draft.
Shadow Performance: reflections to be completed for Monday:
- Identify 3 things (as an individual / a group member / class community member) that allowed your production of the Shadow Performances to run successfully.  Support each with evidence from your experiences.
- Identify 3 things (as an individual / a group member / class community member) that should be considered to 'bump up' the production if the opportunity was provided to do this again.  Support each with evidence from your experiences.

MATH: Exploring Triangles and Rectangles, MMS p. 356 #1 - 4, 6, 7: ENTRANCE PASS for Monday.
