          McMurrich Parents and Students, we need your help. Our QSP Magazine drive deadline is quickly approaching and we are only a quarter ($5500) of the way to reaching our goal of $24,000.00. The money raised from this campaign in the past has gone towards supporting and enriching students’ experience in the classroom and on field trips, bringing special events/guests to our school, purchasing musical instruments and tricycles, and completing phase one of our peace garden/outdoor class room!

Today: the weather was wonderful today as it allowed the Grade 6 students to conduct their field study at Cedarvale Park.  Students were true ambassadors of McMurrich as they respectfully trekked through the park making a variety of observations on the diversity of living things in a city park.  Thank you to our parent volunteers, we couldn't have been successful today without your support.

MATH: Constructing figures using a protractor, compass, ruler and pencil.  Tonight, create your own triangle and parallelogram with all sides and angles identified; then write a set of instructions with missing information for a peer to solve and construct the figure in-class tomorrow.

POETRY: This is a Poem That... use the peer feedback given during class today and bump-up your poem second draft DUE Tuesday October 15th.

DRAMA: Brainstorm a short story plot (beginning, middle and end) based on your group focus for the Shadow Performances.  Create shadow images along the wall using your body (movement or tableau) to convey a message.

MATH: Classifying angles and 2D shapes into Venn Diagrams in-class activities.  Using protractors to measure angles.
- use a pair of dice to practice your 1 to 6 multiplication tables.  Use a pair of dice and one die to multiply two digits by one digit. Virtual Manipulatives select number cubes.
